Milestone-by-milestone comparison

DBA publication requirements

Publication is not a single deadline. An authority may separately state when the first notice must appear, how often it runs, how long it continues, and when proof reaches the clerk. This table deliberately keeps those milestones apart. A blank official record is displayed as not stated; it is never converted into “no publication required.”

County-level California filings illustrate why local pages matter: the county accepts the statement and the publication follows the applicable county process. A state-level summary cannot safely substitute one county’s fee or action link for another. Use the guide link to confirm the entity route and current official instructions before arranging a notice.

Reading a sourced publication answer

Check that the statement was accepted before treating the publication clock as started. Follow the authority’s newspaper eligibility language and do not assume any newspaper qualifies. Keep proof separate from the publication run itself. A renewal may have different publication treatment from a new or changed statement, so the latest county instructions control. DBA Filing Guide does not place legal notices and does not receive publication payments. The table is legal information designed to expose the official evidence, not advice about a particular filing.
